We're All Natural ~ Learning Herbs

Are you familiar with herbs? If not, listen up because we want to tell you about some herbs we recently been using during winter season.In this article we will be sharing valuable information on how to build your immune system and how to ease muscle/joint pain.Plus talk about herbs that have antiviral properties.....


Calendula, Chamomile, Elderberries, Jasmine, Hibiscus, Lavender

1) Elderberries


Elderberries reduce cold and flu like symptoms,prevents cancer and heart disease,lowers cholesterol,treat constipation,promote urination,prevent or treat HIV/AIDS,reduce inflammation,reduce respiratory infections or sinusitis and last but not least known to stimulate the immune system and holds antiviral properties.

When it comes to Elderberries,....Elderberry juice or syrup is best. Elderberry juice is very easy to make all you need is ginger,fresh lemon juice and water.Boil all ingredients in a pot,strain the juice out and pour into a cup full of ice.Yum!!! Now Elderberry syrup is a little more complex you will need 1 tbs of cinnamon(or cloves),1 tbs of ginger,2 cups water and 1/2 cup honey(Do not give honey to children under 1 year old-use agave syrup or date sugar)***Do not eat raw herbs. Boil the water and add in cinnamon,ginger,and elderberries.Bring mixture to a boil then let simmer for 10 to 15 min.Wait until cool enough to strain.After straining juice concoction add in honey and mix thoroughly.Enjoy.(store in vacuumed sealed glass jar)


2) Echinacea


Echinacea can be used as a tincture or brewed into a tea. But wait !! What is a Echinacea Tincture? Well we thought you might ask that question. First let's discuss what a tincture is before we explore the amazing benefits that come from the echinacea herb. Tinctures are herbs prepared in vodka,brandy,other liquors,or vinegar.The best thing about using or creating a tincture is that it can be used internally or externally. Tinctures also remain potent for many years.

Now back to Echinacea... The benefits of the echinacea herb is that it shortens duration of colds,early treatment of influenza (take within 24 - 48 hours after first sign of symptoms) Reduce inflammation,relieves pain,kills bacteria and viruses.Can be used as a antiseptic,to boost immune system,heals wounds,can also be used to treat viral infections and used as a antibiotic.The best thing about this beautiful herb is that it is known to stimulate the immune system and holds antiviral properties.


3) Arnica


What is Arnica?

Arnica is derived from the beautiful flower heads of the Arnica Montana plant. It's benefits include soothing and renewing the skin after exposure to stress it also relieves aches,bruises,and sprains with swelling.Analgesic and anti-inflammatory action,used in cases of trauma,hematomas,joint pain,muscle pain and muscle strains. All around great for muscle/joint pain and back pain. Arnica can be used in the form of cream,gel,tincture or infused oil. Do not use Arnica on open wounds or if allergic to Marigold,Daisies,Sunflowers,or Dandelions because this herb is also in the Asteraceae family.


4) Menthol Herb Arvensis aka Menthol Crystals


There's a lot of controversy about whether or not to consider menthol as a herb but it is in fact a herb because it's a hybrid or compound obtained from peppermint oil and we all know peppermint is indeed a herb.Menthol Crystals have many awesome benefits which are relieving pain in aching muscle/joints,emotional balance, positive thinking,relaxation,anxiety, depression,breaks down mucus, coughs, headaches,boost immune system, nasal congestion, stimulate circulation,reduce swelling and inflammation.
